Abstract
The debate over feasible bias within the utilization of lethal force has been recently exacerbated by highly publicized killings of African American men around the country. While much research has been conducted police that is examining, little happens to be done to analyze the effect of competition on authorities behavior. This short article aims to answer this concern: are white police very likely to make use of lethal force on minority suspects or individuals of a race that is specific? The authors construct a data set of all confirmed uses of lethal force by police officers in the United States in 2014 and 2015 to answer this question. They realize that although minority suspects are disproportionately killed by authorities, white officers look like no further prone to make use of lethal force against minorities than nonwhite officers.
